Presented by Susan Bengivingo, RN

Susan Bengivingo is a registered nurse with over twenty-seven years of experience, including twenty-five years in intensive care settings. She is currently employed part-time as nurse clinician in the CV ICU at the Foothills Medical Centre and part-time as a staff nurse at the Strathmore Health Centre. She is certified in neonatal resuscitation, in TNCC at a provider level, and in ACLS at an instructor level. Susan has presented at local and national conferences on issues related to cardiovascular, intensive care, and rural nursing. Well known for her clinical teaching ability and mentoring skills, Susan was honoured at the annual general meeting of the CCCN as the receipient of the 2002 Clinical Cardiovascular Excellence Award - only one Canadian nurse is given this award annually. With current expertise in urban critical care and rural emergency nursing, Susan is ideally suited to teach practitioners from a variety of settings.

Workshop Description

Acute Coronary Syndromes are an important cause of illness and premature death, and a leading reason for hospital admission. This one day workshop is designed to assist nurses to develop a comprehensive understanding of ACS and review the etiology, diagnosis, triage, and evidence-based management of patients with unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction.
